part 2

(continued from iku getting on her flight.)
(note that iku (for now) has a noticeable accent when speaking english)

She slept trough ¾ of the flight. She woke up to an email from an unknown sender.

Subject: “Welcome to Florida”
“Hey, it’s Nate.
You don’t know me but your boss told me i should probably tell you what i look like so you can find me at the gate,
I’m around 6 feet, slightly curly hair, white tshirt and black jeans, i’ll be holding a sign with “iku” on it, that’s what your boss told me at least. Hope you have a good flight, see you soon.”

As she’s reading this she’s already not fond of Nate, who’s supposed to oversee her. She replies:

Subject: “Re: Welcome to Florida”
“hey nate,
‘iku’ is correct.
the rest is noted.”

For the rest of the flight iku listens to music while staring at the sea of clouds.

Couple hours later she lands, she gets off, gets her luggage, and makes her way to the exit gate where Nate is waiting.

iku notices Nate, and walks up to him.

iku: (“Hi Nate, it’s me.”)

iku reaches her hand out, and Nate shakes it.

Nate: (“Hey wow, you’re tall, i mean i knew, but like - like it’s different actually seeing you.”)

iku: (“Uh-uh, yeah sure, whatever, just try to keep it in your pants okay, i don’t like you.“)

Nate: (“Oh i didn’t mean it in that way, sorry about that. Say do you know what happened? I mean there were supposed to be 2 guys sent out here, and like 2 months from now, suddenly i get a call from your boss just saying that plans have changed and that it’s happening now. How come?”)

iku: (“Dead. Both of them, and well, most of them. Don’t dwell on it tough.“)

Nate: (“Ookay, Sure. Anyways, uh, are you hungry? Cause like we can go out after i take you back to base.”)

iku: (“I mean I am, and I am in the “burgerland” so i wanna try a true patriotic burger. Oh right, and I’m not jumping in bed with you cause you get me a couple burgers.“)
